Night night

I'm going to bed...no baby yet....what the heck is she waiting for???

....

Still waiting....no news. However, I think I'm on track to lose all the baby weight from all this walking today and yesterday and it's looking like more of the same for tomorrow unless something turns tonight.

Any minute now

Last night I was having steady contractions and as soon as Josh got home (maybe not the best idea to let him go with Scott to the movies) we called the doctor. She said to lay down for an hour and see if they kept coming...they did so we went in to the hospital. I got all hooked up to the monitors and the contractions were pretty regular, but not strong enough. We were given the option of staying and walking for an hour and getting checked again or heading back home, resting, and coming back when the pains were bad enough that I couldn't walk through them. The nurse said I would probably end up back sometime Saturday- today. So now my parents are on their way down and Josh is thoroughly enjoying the instant connection to everyone on his IPhone. We've been walking throughout the morning and so far, contractions are still steady, but manageable. Josh loved watching the monitors last night and telling ME when I was having a contraction. After one particularly big one, he had the nerve to say something about it being stronger on the monitor. That's the kind of comment husbands get beat over!

No more tv

Does ayone realize that Discovery Health channel runs 7 hours of baby programming during the day??? I DO!! I'm going to get dressed and head over to the library to get out of the house and hopefully not have my water break while I'm out. Thankfully the building is only 2 miles away, so I should be ok. I've got to get out of the house!!!! I need some mental stimulation. I'm going to still try the pineapple again this afternoon, but I think the only thing it did for me was give me a slight case of heartburn. Oh well.

Nothin'

We just came back in from walking around...I'm about to eat the other half of the an of pineapple Josh brought me...no contractions...I really don't want to have to go back to the doctor next week, so everyone keep your fingers crossed it happens tonight or tomorrow. Kelley, sorry if you don't win! :)

New Trick

I just called Josh's school to leave a message for him to pick up some pineapple. Thanks for the suggestion!! It's supposed to kick start contractions apparently. I hope he doesn't think I'm joking when he gets the message from the secretary....at this point I'll try anything.

Day 2

So the second day of being home from work while feeling perfectly fine...I'm bored as anything. I'm sick of watching TLC and Discovery because all they show ALL afternoon are baby programs...THAT SHOULD BE ME SWEATING AND SCREAMING IN PAIN!!! :) Terry said between 24-48 hours after stripping the membranes labor should start...we're at about 22. This kid is taking her own sweet time. Josh got so excited last night that he bought a bag of pink duplo blocks and a pink bubble lawn mower. I guess he's planning ahead for next year.

Sooner than expected

We went to the midwife again this afternoon. I was far enough and dilated and soft enough that Terry was able "strip my membranes" which is about as pleasent as it sounds. But it's supposed to kick start labor and she said it could happen either tonight or tomorrow. From my google research, many women reported going into labor and having their water break within 48 hours of having it done. YIKES!! Josh just packed the car with my bag and switched the car seat to the Jeep. The phone has been ringing off the hook too. Sorry Sharee for throwing the phone at Josh while we were talking---had to breathe through a contraction!! :)

last day!

Finally my last day at work!!! I had to get a doctor's note to be able to leave three days before I planned to, but it's been faxed and my sub is coming in this afternoon to see everything I've left behind for her. I think Josh is a bit jealous, but I doubt he'll feel like that when I'm huffing and puffing in labor....which hopefully will be later this week. His class gave him a surprise baby shower yesterday- sweet of them, but more laundry for me to do :). We got more blankets and onesies. I told Josh she's not going to repeat an outfit until she's six months old!

Feet

Ok so I know everyone wants to know this, but I'm really worried about the swelling in my feet..it won't go down and I constantly have my feet up. Josh even put the little stool under the computer desk for me while I work today. It's not very comfortable and looks like I have cankles...something I am not thrilled about at all. I'm noticing that for all the crap I deal with at school, I'm not a very patient person in my home life. I hope all those fortune tellers who have predicted a birth later this week are correct. I really don't want to go through another full week--or possibly two-. Like I've said before, the latest she'll be here is June 1, maybe 2nd, depending on the doctor, but she said they won't let me go past a week beyond my due date.

Waiting Game

This whole waiting thing is killing me. I'm looking forward to being home next week. I'm almost done planning for the fall. It's a lot easier than I thought it would be once I broke it down that there are only 15 A days and B days, so I think I'm overplanning actually. Better to be safe than sorry. Today has been so uncomfortable just because of the heat and humidity and sitting in front of the computer.

Still here

Well I'm still at work. Why? I have no clue. I must love my job. I'm almost where I need to be for me to leave the kids in the very capable hands of my sub. I have rescheduled my leaving date for next Wednesday--only two days earlier, but it's making me calmer to have those extra few days. Plus that's my next appointment with the OB and we'll see if I'm still stuck at 2 or have progressed. I don't think I will have gotten any further because I haven't had anymore contractions like I had last week. Josh came to my room yesterday and helped me take home a few boxes that I won't need anymore this year or for the beginning of next year and it has made a huge difference in my room. I'm still trying to get things organized for the beginning of next year, but it's not as hard as I thought it would be....just hard explaining what to do on the very first day of the classes. We've been hearing rumors that the block schedule we use is going to be changing, so I have no idea what the days will look like next year. I'm hoping my class won't be changing too much or else I'm planning all this stuff for nothing.

No more class!

Apparently we are ready to become parents...we even got a certificate to proove it! Some of what she talked about this afternoon was a bit of a shock--it looks like I'll have to wear adult diapers for a while for...well....it's just nasty. Still a waiting game I guess. I go back to see the midwife tomorrow. I hope I've dialated a little at least. Have I mentioned I'm ready to not be pregnant anymore? I don't know how women do it when the baby is due at the end of the summer!

Bag is done!

We went to the store this morning and got a few of the last minute things for my hospital bag; tic tacs, Gatorade, hard candy, and minute rice (for the tube sock massager). It's still a waiting game..I keep talking to her telling her how much fun it is on the outside...she's perfectly content in her little condo it seems.

What a guy

Nothing tasted good to me tonight--it's way too hot to eat anything cooked. Josh went out and bought me fruit ice pops- right when the NASCAR race had started. He also put together the baby's bounce seat. He's been so great the last 9 months, especially the past few weeks. Tomorrow is our last birthing class!

Babies everywhere!

I went to a Pampered Chef party tonight and two of the women there had their almost new born daughters with them...just a few more weeks!! or could it be days?? Have I mentioned I'm totally over being pregnant?? Today we finally got around to clearing out the dining room of the shower gifts from Monday. It's just been a really busy week. I'm trying to keep all her bath stuff in one place and so far so good. Other stuff still just needs to find a permanent home. I'm not sure where I'm going to put her toys- she got a few more of them this week. Thank you to Maura for the Pack N Play--that's going to help a lot!

still ok

Well I made it through the day with no contractions. Baby has been relatively quiet all day, I guess last night tuckered her out. Italian Ice at lunch seemed to wake her up though :).

Fun night

Last night was sure a fun time in the Long house. I had a reading specialist meeting right after school until 5:30 and started having contractions around 4 while I was there. I didn't want to leave so I just suffered through them and tried to be casual....really hard to do. When I got home we started timing them, called the midwife, and tried to stay calm. I've never seen Josh change clothes so quickly though. Midwife Terry said I could come to get checked out or wait it out, eat, shower, and drink plenty of water- I chose that option. By 7:30 everything had stopped. Another level of reality achieved. I have to say...I don't care too much for the pain, but it wasn't that bad...just uncomfortable.

Work

I swear on all that is holy- if one more person at work quacks at me, they will see a new side of Mrs. Long.

New stuff

I had to see a different doctor today since my midwife was up at the hospital delivering a baby. The most obvious change has been that baby Long has dropped. I think anyone who has seen me in the past two or three days can tell that. It feels like I'm walking with a bowling ball between my knees. The other change has to do with something that happens to let you know labor is a few days to a few weeks away--since my dad and uncle read this, I'll leave out the details, but I will say that I'm not dilated yet.

Birthing Center

Wow.....things just got a whole lot more real..realer..whatever the word may be. I think seeing an actual room and hospital bed and baby warmer..all the accessories...put it into my head that this is happening....SOON! To quote Frank Barone...holy crap.

Week 37

According to all I read, baby is officially full term and can come at anytime. Cell phones at the ready people!! We made it to Baltimore and back fine yesterday and now it's way too quiet in the house. It always takes a few days for me to adjust when Mom leaves. We are off to our third birthing class tonight when we will get a tour of the hospital's birthing center. I really hope no one is up there screaming when we go through...really hope.

Cautious

Josh is starting to drive me nuts. I understand he's concerned about the recent surge in contagious diseases going around, but I can't live in a bubble! He's worried about taking me to Baltimore tomorrow. I'm more worried about him leaving me home and going into labor while he's on the road! At least if I'm with him we'd get to the hospital together! I love the H function of our GPS---finds the closest hospital to where you are....very handy in these times.
