Hayride

On Thursday we went to Miller's Farm out in Locust Grove for a first hayride. I hadn't been on one in years! Juliette laughed at the bumps when we were going through the field, so I think she liked it!

Meow!

She could be a cat for Halloween!

This week

Here's her picture from this week!

Shopping!

Here's Daddy with Juliette in front of the LEGO store up in Potomac Mills. Yes, we had socks on her, but she always kicks them off so while we were inside we took them off her to save us the experience of constantly running backwards and picking them up off the floor of the mall.

Glamour Girl

OH my. We went to Potomac Mills today and one of the kiosks was a photographer that did specialty shots of kids all dressed up. I was upset I didn't have Juliette in something cute, but they had dresses there for her to put on. It was so cute! I bought three different styles and they are coming next week. The only kink is that we couldn't get her to smile! Even the lady asked if she was always so serious! They still look cute and I can't wait to share them. I can make my own copies so if you want one, let me know!

One more postive

I found another positive to having a baby--not that there aren't already too many to list here--but today, for the second time mind you, we had a group of Jehovah (spelling?) Witnesses at the door and I got to get away from them by saying the baby was hungry (truth) and needed to be fed. That didn't stop them from shoving some papers in my hand and having the one kid read a Psalm from the Bible though. Last time I was by myself and just getting home from a grocery run and they were parked in my spot!! Sorry couldn't talk that time either--had to get inside with the baby!

Way too Cute

Ok so this is possibly the cutest picture ever of our little person! She was in a good mood while we were waiting for the doctor this morning. She doesn't have an ear infection and the dr thinks the rash on her back is just a heat rash from sweating--if it was an allergic reaction to the bananas it would have been on her face. So we'll try bananas again next week after our fun with butternut squash. Yesterday during a 2.5 hr nap I made two more trays of sweet potatoes and today I made a tray of pears since she loves them so much. The nurse said I had to give her more solids to put some weight on- she only gained 2 oz since her Sept 30 visit so I'm giving her cereal in the morning and at night and some fruits of veggies sometime during the day. Juliette will be wearing at least three outfits a day now! Oh well....she's got lots of cute stuff at least!

Sleep

I don't know which is better; Juliette sleeping straight through the night with no fussing and waking up at 5, or waking up a few times and sleeping until 7. She loves to take that morning nap after her first feeding laying with me and I have no problems with that right now. The books say as long as they have a healthy night sleep habit, it's ok to cuddle during daytime naps. Pretty soon she's going to be running everywhere and not want to cuddle anyway! She tried the butternut squash I made for her this morning and liked it a lot- but I think sweet potatoes and pears are her favorites so far along with oatmeal. I think bananas gave her a rash and we're going to the pediatrician tomorrow to check it out. Plus she's been pulling on her right ear the last two days and I'm hoping it's not an ear infection. She doesn't have a fever and isn't any more fussy than she usually is, so maybe her ear was just itchy or something simple like that. Josh is taking next Friday off from school as a mental health day so that'll be nice to have him around, but our days are pretty calm and I don't feel stress with the baby--just about keeping the house in order.

Mommy and my thumb! What else is there???

Pumpkins!

We went to Snead's Farm this morning and it was finally a beautiful day! Juliette got to wear her Halloween gear too complete with a pumpkin hat! I had to put a sweater on her though and her cute onsesie (thanks Aunt Mari) had to be covered up. She's taking a nap right now, but as soon as she gets up, I'll post a picture of her and the pumpkin we picked out. I still have to wash it because I know as soon as I sit her by it she's going to try to bite it.

Block Party

Juliette's new play toys are these blocks. We've had them for a while now and she's never paid attention to them before now. She loves to have them stacked in front of her and knock them over. I had her on her tummy once last week and she couldn't reach them so she pulled on the blanket until they came to her! Smart kid. She also loves this bunny...the ears are constantly wet from her eating them! The rattle in her hand is from her play mat and Juliette will tear it off to play with it alone. It's another of her favorites.

Awww

Juliette loves to rub my face....after she's eaten! So here I am with lovely rice mixed with apples and bananas all over. I try to keep her from reaching into my mouth, but sometimes a finger will slip in...baby cereal is not very yummy!

Future Husky!

All dressed up in her husky socks and shirt. See Jane...she smiles!!! :) As I look at this picture, she really looks like a butterball, but I think it's just how she's sitting and the camera angle. She doesn't have a belly and she's really long so maybe that means she'll be tall when she grows up like her daddy's side of the family. You can also really see his grandfather's ears on her here too.

Weekend!

Ahh the weekend is here and time for some family bonding. Today was a weird day and I guess the dreary weather made Juliette dreary too. She took three naps and went right to sleep again at 8. We thought she would be up later tonight, but we were wrong. hopefully she sleeps well again tonight like she did last night. Juliette is starting to get the hang of the whole sleeping straight through the night. The doctor said it would take two or three days...my eye --it's been two weeks! Now she might wake up once or twice, but only for a few minutes and then goes right back to sleep. It's nothing like it used to be--even when Mom was here it was impossible to put her down before 10. The next thing we have to work on is slowly turning down her cd of bedtime songs. Josh has it on continuous repeat so it plays ALL night. We've got to get that weaned by the time Thanksgiving rolls around and Mom and Dad return...we're used to it, but I'm sure it can get annoying hearing those songs over and over....and over....and over...and over!

20 weeks

I forgot to post this one from her Wednesday birthday :).

Spoon me Mama!

Juliette is becoming a little stinker at meal time...now she wants to hold her own spoon! She's actually pretty good with aiming it at her mouth. I'm trying to pull it out of her grip, but it took some twisting to get it out of her little hand!

Solids

Here is a prime example of the dangers of solid foods! We caught her right in the middle of an oatmeal sneeze. It also appears that I'm allergic to the baby oatmeal because everywhere Juliette touches me with oatmeal hands, I break into hives.

Play time with a new friend!

New Trick!

Juliette is getting better and better at sitting up on her own. The reason she's in the Boppy is because sometimes she still falls backwards so a pillow is a good idea :).

We're putting videos up of Juliette on Facebook that for some reason can't be put on this site. So sign up people if you don't already have an account!!! :)

Juliette's new chewy toy

This morning Juliette was really tired and fussy and couldn't settle herself even with sucking her thumb so she started to suck something new--my chin. I didn't think anything of it and she only did it for a few seconds. Apparently my daughter has quite a strong suck as seen by the picture! I was putting on my make up and saw it....I now have a freakin' chin hicky!!

New stress time

When she was teeny, I would start getting the night sweats when the clock struck 9 because I knew it was several more hours before Juliette would go to sleep. Now that stressful time is between 5:30 and 7....that seems to be her new fussy time when it's too early to feed her and too late for her to be interested in playing. This is usually when one of us will let her cuddle on us and sleep for a few, but tonight she's not interested in anything except her yummy thumb. She's snuggled up with Daddy and doing her best impersonation of a car motor trying to start in the cold. That sound means one of two things; she's settling in for a quick nap, or she's taking a break before starting to really let go and scream. We'll have to wait and see what it means tonight!

Mom knows best

I have no problem following a doctor's advice medically and when I don't know another way to do something. But sometimes you have to go with your gut. I know Juliette better than the doctor does and have to trust myself. Like with naps. The doctor wanted me to leave her in her crib for 40 minutes twice a day. I tried that and yes, the baby slept, but was not getting enough rest because when she woke up, she couldn't get back to sleep. I knew she needed more rest. I put her in the swing and she can sleep peacefully for up to two hours because if she wakes up, the music and the motion put her back out and she can get the rest she needs. So sometimes you just have to say screw it and do what you know works.

No Danger

Ok so if you are freaking out that the cat is going to attack Juliette, fear not. The cat is afraid of the baby and won't go near her. This is the first time she's ever been on the bed with the baby and when they both stretched to look at me...PHOTO OPPORTUNITY!!!

New Pictures

I caught Juliette in the middle of rolling over :) She's a quick little thing now!

The other picture is from yesterday at the yardsale we had with friends. Emillie loved holding the baby!

Great Time!

I thought last night was going to be rough because she was off her schedule during the day and didn't really take naps until later in the day with a one hour nap from 6-7 pm. But after trying pears for the first time (not a big fan yet) and a bath, Juliette fell fast asleep around 8:30 and slept until 7. Last night was the first time she didn't wake up during the night, but her mommy sure did! I kept going back and checking on her. So this morning she is playing in her exersaucer while I get dressed- see video!
