You gotta be kidding
Ok so first the earthquake, now a hurricane. If we are following the fifth grade curriculum we need to move because next is a volcano! The Longs were in today with the heavy rain and wind that turned our front yard into a pond. With Juliette sick and me not feeling 100% it has not been an easy few days. Today we had a lot of fun with her three Ps---ponies, Potato Head, and puzzles :)....and a lot of Mickey Mouse.

What a day!!
I need a shirt that says I survived the 5.8 earthquake of 2011!! A bunch of us were having a training on how this new program called Brain Gym is going to work when all of a sudden it sounded like there was a huge truck rumbling by and felt the floor rumbling...asked what that was and all of a sudden things got a little funky. We were literally rolling with the floor trying to keep our balance and the AP said it felt like an earthquake so about 10 of us started trying to cram into the door jam! I did not like the feeling at all and it lasted about a minute. We had to evacuate and since I wasn't in my room, no phone for Wendy. Only a few teachers' phones were working and I got a call through to mom, but that was it. We had to wait outside for a little bit and then were dismissed from school. Josh was able to text me to let me know he had called Cindy and Juliette was fine and I think I managed to get to her house in about ten minutes. She slept right through it! Cindy's glassware and china broke- so sad. Josh was finally able to get through to my phone and tell me the house was ok, amazing that we had nothing fall off the walls. He had a picture break in his classroom. All of the wine in one of our grocery stores fell off the shelf...alcohol abuse. Then when I was on my way to the gym tonight we had a 4.2 aftershock and Josh's chair was shaking-I didn't feel anything. I will NEVER forget that sound.

Picking out a prize
Last Monday was our last "summer" trip to King's Dominion- we've practically lived there this year. We'll be going on the weekends sometimes, but it was our last weekday afternoon trip for the season. We told Juliette she could pick out a Snoopy doll and she was very excited. We let her out of the stroller and she made a beeline for the Snoopy section. Josh was showing her all the different types and she liked one that was sleeping on a pillow, but then she saw Lucy. She tried grabbing more than one off the shelf! She would not let go of that doll at all!! So that is what we came home with instead of Snoopy and she loves it. Lucy has been added to her crib- there's not going to be room for the baby soon!
The other Peanuts
Meeting Snoopy
All Juliette talks about when we get to King's Dominion is seeing Snoopy. We finally made it to the Peanuts show where Snoopy is part of it and Juliette went nuts. She was so excited to see him. But when it came time to go up to him and say hi, at first it was a little scary, but then she hugged him and gave him a high 5.
She waited patiently for her turn to go up to Snoopy.
Daddy had to encourage her a little.
She eventually gave him a hug.

First peanut butter cup
Mommy read book!
Painting
We were at Target and Juliette saw the little paint sets in the craft section so we got a few for projects. Some lucky people will be getting a package of original artwork! Cindy got this one that's a magnet of a puppy. By the time Juliette was finished it had kind of a camo look with a brown face and green body!

Lil' Beachcombers Beach
This is the area at King's Dominion that we hang out in for hours at a time. So sad that those days are almost over now that school is about to start again. She discovered that she could crawl on the bottom and "swim". She wore herself out today swimming and doing belly flops. She really liked when her floaty suit spun her around onto her back- to us it looked like a crocodile in a death roll, but she was quite happy. When we got to the park she kept saying thank you mommy, thank you daddy. While we were in the water every so often she would hug us and say I happy mommy I happy daddy. Too cute.

Peanut butter!
What did you do???
Fredericksburg Agriculture Fair
I grew up with the Bloomsburg Fair, the Hartford Fair, and a ton of carnivals and church picnics, so when I hear the word fair, I've got a picture in my head of what it should be, especially when it's constantly in the newspaper about how awesome it is going to be, tradition, and crowds. We took Juliette to the fair on Sunday and I was very let down. It was about 1/4 the size of the Bloomsburg Fair and not all that exciting. You need to have at least one lizard woman to be considered a good fair in my opinion. Now, to be "fair", they did have redneck pig races which Juliette loved. The petting zoo everyone was raving about was just a pen you walked around and could give carrots to goats, cows, alpacas, and camels. Again, Juliette loved that and would have spent all day there if we kept buying bags of cut carrots. I think if it had been a little cooler it would have been more enjoyable.
Daddy showed her how to hold out her hand to feed the baby goats. She giggled like a loon every time one would take her carrot.
Juliette was having a ball feeding the goats when this big guy game over- Sally, the camel.
Not a fan of the chicken barn. She hated the noise from the roosters.
It's not a fair without a treat- lollipop she eventually dropped.
the contestants----the losers will be breakfast tomorrow.
waiting patiently for the pig races!
and they're off!
I think this was her favorite part. The kid loves cows!
Bye Moo!
