Hurricane Weekend

We've had the last two days off because of the storm and today was supposed to be the worst and we only got some light rain. Oh well, we had fun home. We played with the princess castle, play doh, Hi Ho Cherry-o and all the rest of Juliette's treasures. I think this Christmas we will ask Santa for some games. I think she would like Candy Land, Elefun, maybe pop the pig. Black Friday may be a good idea this year. Juliette has gotten to have one treat from her candy bag and today was a peanut butter cup. Josh asked if he could have a bite and she said How bout I give you a hug? I almost died laughing. Back to normal schedule tomorrow including trick or treating tomorrow night- maybe just in our neighborhood.

Halloween

Thanks to Sandy we don't know if we will be able to trick or treat on Wednesday, so yesterday afternoon we headed to the mall for their fall festival/candy festival. Juliette had a great time and wanted to keep playing games because- well duh she wanted more candy!! :) She kept looking in her bag and saying Wow there's a lot of candy in there! Her favorites were shooting a nerf gun to knock down cans, digging through packing peanuts to find a duck in a baby pool, and sticking a peanut into an elephant's nose which would then shoot candy out at her.
Prince Charming, Cinderella, and the Fairy Godmother!

Here we go!

Pumpkins!

Shaking Mickey's hand. Poor Mickey pumpkin. What started as a little mark we called the belly button has turned into full rotted hole. This was the pumpkin we got at Belvedere- hope it makes it until Wednesday with the hurricane coming for us!

Just some pics :)

Watching Belle with some candy corn. Blech. She hasn't taken off her Rapunzel nightgown in two days.

Coloring at her desk.

Goofball :)

Shocking

Accused: Parents said five girls in the third and fourth grades were invited to a female school teacher's home and were secretly videoed by Gary Doby, pictured left

Ok this has nothing to do with Juliette- just shocking to see one of my favorite professors from Bloom in prison orange. I think everyone who had him would not be surprised at his charges, but he still was one of the smartest people I knew---when he was being serious. That and he made sure Josh graduated on time made him awesome.

oops

for some reason the video wouldn't upload. will try again tomorrow

Spookley

Juliette's favorite holiday songs this year come from Spookley the Square Pumpkin- we watch it just about every night. I'd like to skip a night please, but Juliette won't let us forget. Oh well...after next week we won't be seeing it again for a year. We may have to "lose" the dvd. She knows all the words to all the songs and I finally caught her singing the main song.

Look at Spookley, look at him
he's so odd he won't fit in
look at spookley
look at him
spookley the square pumpkin
all the pumpkins in the patch
are nice and round
We all match
But no not spookley no not him
Spookley the square pumpkin.

And let's not forget the Transylvania Twist at the end.

Dentist Finally

Because of HIPPA and FERPA and all those other privacy laws that get in the way of photo opportunities, I wasn't able to get a picture of Juliette's first dentist visit. I did, however, sneak a pic with my phone when we went back for the follow up to have her little cavities filled. Since I can't e-mail from my phone, I sent it to Kelley, who e-mailed it to me so finally here she is in the dentist chair last month before they filled her teeth---which is why she is smiling.

Fall Festival

My school had our fall festival today and Juliette had a fun time painting pumpkins. But the big draw was the monster truck. She also got to see Toby and James so that was an added bonus.

All in!

We had poker night at our house yesterday and Juliette loved helping set up for it. We taught her how to push all her money and say All in!

Mommy Badge

All I can say is that if we hadn't earned our parenting badges anytime in the last three years, we certainly did yesterday. I got Juliette up to go to Cindy's and she was happy and wanted to play- nothing unusual about her wake up pattern except I told Josh I noticed that she must have been hot at night because her hair was all wet. I touched it, and it felt sticky. I picked her up off her pillow and her pillow..and the back of her hair...was matted with vomit. She had thrown up during the night, not called for us or anything, and fallen back to sleep in the puke. What scared me more than anything was the thought that she could have choked on it and we wouldn't have known. So while Josh scraped the hurl off the pillow, I threw her in the tub and brushed dried vomit out of my kid's hair...while it pooled up in the water with her scooching to the far end of the tub to avoid it! Let me tell you vomit smell does not come out of hair after one washing or two or three. So we stayed home yesterday. She was normal, just had a sore tummy and low appetite. She wanted to play, but I tried to just keep her resting on the couch. No more puke thank God and she went to Cindy's today. Fun day.

Halloween this year

I was looking at the videos from last Halloween and can't believe the difference in my little person. She was so cute showing Josh her pumpking and saying Look at my got Daddy! --Look at what I got in grown up speak :) This year she is so excited to get her treat bag and get it filled with candy. She keeps telling us that the candy goes inside and we can't have it until we get home and then we can bite it. I think Josh is going to teach her a little lesson with income taxes this year and take half her candy :(...depends on what she gets I guess :). We are going back to trunk or treat at the church and then maybe around our neighborhood to the people we know while Josh hands out candy at our house. We still have two weeks, but the excitement is killing us!! :)

Snead's

Swinging on her first trip to Snead's farm.

Big girl swinging on her own! She had a lot of fun until Pop pop decided he was going to push her and she fell face first into the dirt pile. Tough kid.

Last year she wouldn't go in the tunnel because kids were screaming in it to make it echo and it scared her. This year she happily ran through it over and over.

Halloween at King's Dominion

Last year we didn't go to Kings Dominion in the fall, but we thought we would give it a try this year. They had a ton of things for the kids to do like a treasure hunt, pumpkin patch, corn maze, and the characters all dressed up.

Baking!

Juliette always loves helping when we cook. Lately baking is a great way to keep her attention and, while we love playing princesses...it gets old after a while! So here are our most recent baking attempts. We "made" Cinderella cookies- my favorite kind that you just take off the tray in the box and put them on the cookie sheet. Juliette, Amber, and I made pretzels from the Auntie Anne's kit, and finally Juliette and I baked whole wheat apple muffins on our rainy Sunday afternoon.

Baking is hard work! As seen by the flour smudge on her cheek :)
